Nine hours later, Bonf's jet touched down in French Guiana. As he drove his rented jeep into the hills, a Mercedes followed. Bonf went offroad, outran them, hid the jeep, and lay in wait. When they arrived, he shot the driver and subdued the passenger. "Why are you following me?"

"If you interfere with us, you will die," the man said.

Bonf took his pistol and wallet, searched the car, then ignited its petrol tank.

At a seaside cabana, he met a beautiful woman. They shared drinks, went up to his room, and made love. When he awoke, she was gone; a snake was crawling up the covers toward his neck. He killed the snake, took a shower, and had breakfast with a man who worked with Dohrner's operation.

Pretending to be a foreign investor, Bonf took a tour of the complex. However, one of the engineers was... the woman he slept with. His cover blown, he was captured. "After I tell you about my plan, I'll kill you," said Dohrner.

They tied Bonf up and placed him in the nozzle exhaust chute. The timer showed five minutes to ignition. He wriggled out and went back toward the control room. Using the pen, he killed a sentry. Dohrner, surprised to see him alive, started a fist fight, which Bonf won. He then stopped the timer via computer, and tossed a £1 coin into the works.

However, the cooling rods were still engaged, so a nuclear meltdown would occur in 5 minutes. Bonf climbed out on the roof and climbed into a helicopter, pushing out the pilot. He was about 5 miles away when the blast occurred, destroying the complex and killing everyone. Though Bonf survived, the area was devoid of all life for 300 years.
